Earl J. Gee was born in Richmond, Virginia and grew up in Lunenburg County, Virginia. He graduated from Central Senior High School in 1971. He obtained a B.A. in Social Science from Saint Paul’s College in 1975. He received a law degree from Howard University in 1979 and a Master's degree in History from Virginia State University in 1984.

Earl began his practice in 1980 with the Virginia Legal Aid Society, Inc. in Farmville, Virginia as a staff attorney. During this time he also served as an Adjunct Instructor at Saint Paul's College. In 1984, he became Senior Attorney of the Farmville office with responsibility for a 6 county area in Southside, Virginia. In 1985, Earl left Legal Aid to join the Army as member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. His first assignment was as a Trial Counsel at Fort Hood, Texas. Before leaving Fort Hood he served as a Claims Attorney and a Legal Assistant Attorney. In 1988 he was reassigned to Fort Detrick, Maryland as the Post Judge Advocate. He also served as the Special Assistant United States Attorney prosecuting cases before United States Magistrates.

In 1990, Earl left active duty military to help Donald Gee and A. Donald McEachin start McEachin & Gee, P.C. From 1992 to 2000, he served as Managing Partner for the personal injury law firm. During the 11 year span McEachin & Gee law firm grew to have 9 attorneys and an overall staff of 31 persons in its two offices. Earl’s main area of practice was personal injury but he also handled domestic relations, bankruptcies, wills and workers' compensation cases.

At the end of 2000, McEachin & Gee, P.C. dissolved and on January 1, 2001, The Gee Law Firm, P.C. was established.

Earl serves as the Managing Partner of The Gee Law Firm, P.C.. His main area of practice is personal injury, but he also handles uncontested divorces, wills, powers of attorney and deeds. He is responsible for the overall operation of the law firm. Additionally, he is a military attorney in the United States Army Reserve, currently serving as a Staff Judge Advocate in the rank of Colonel.

Earl is a member of the the Virginia State Bar Association, District of Columbia Bar Association, Old Dominion Bar Association, Richmond Chapter, City of Richmond Bar Association and Chesterfield County Bar Association. Additionally, he is the Treasurer of the Central Virginia Legal Aid Society, Inc., Advisory Board and a member of the Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission.
